Today we are sending a batch of handmade silk carpets to Israel.

This customer has opened a handmade carpet shop in Israel for many years. We often say that handmade carpets are a family industry passed down from generation to generation. This customer is no exception. The handmade carpet shop he is running now is passed down from his ancestors. Our boss visited his shop when he went to Israel to investigate the market before, so we had a chance to meet.

At the beginning of this year, this customer contacted us online and placed an order for 12 handmade silk carpets. Maybe because he was a little cautious about his first purchase, he mostly bought small-sized carpets from 3x5ft to 9x12ft. I guess he was very satisfied after receiving the goods, so this time he placed an order for 13 more, all of which were medium and large sizes, ranging from 5x8ft to 12x18ft.

There is a saying that goes like this: "If you don't understand the Middle East, you don't understand the world." In the eyes of many Chinese people, the Middle East is like a powder keg, and it feels like it will explode at any time. But in fact, this is a region with a long, ancient and deep-rooted cultural tradition. It used to be the center of civilization, a gathering place with many connections, and a place of brilliant culture that stood out from the crowd. In today's inclusive and open environment, the regional style here presents a multi-faceted blossoming scene.

Take this shipment as an example. They also have their own unique aesthetics in the selection of handmade carpet patterns: on the one hand, they prefer traditional Persian pattern carpets, and are not very interested in the fashionable and bold Turkish style; on the other hand, since Israel is a country with many religions and is located in the Middle East, religious carpets are very popular locally. For example, the carpets we packed this time include some dome patterns inspired by mosques.

The above two are very famous "dome" (Gonbad) designs in Persian patterns. The dome design originated from mosques more than 2,000 years ago and was named after the dome building on the top of the mosque.

In many carpets with dome designs, you can see the visual expression of columns surrounding the dome, small arches indicating the direction of Mecca, or Islamic prayer niches. This design achieves a three-dimensional effect by imitating the visual effect of looking up at the dome ceiling of a mosque, so this type of pattern is very popular in the Middle East, where Islam is practiced.

Although handmade silk carpets look gorgeous, each delivery is a big project. We need to first turn the carpets to be shipped out from the warehouse one by one, trim and iron them one by one, and then start packing. Generally, we will roll up the small and medium-sized ones, and fold the large ones. If the quantity sent is large and the specifications are different, the small ones will be rolled inside the large ones, so that it will be faster and more convenient to put on the outer packaging.

Take this batch of handmade silk carpets sent to Israel this time. It took us half a day just to pack. The girls were responsible for trimming and ironing, and the boys were responsible for rolling and packing. The whole company worked together to get it done in half a day. Although the packing process is more difficult, it is also a visual enjoyment to look at the gorgeous silk carpets on the ground every time.

This batch of handmade silk carpets will arrive in Israel soon. Although we don’t know which Middle Eastern tycoon will pick them up, we all wish him/her a happy experience in advance.
